The Value of Curb Appeal
Written by Denise Hill - Home Buyer Specialist

Are you thinking of getting your home ready for sale? Today’s market is a price war and a beauty contest. We need to look “our best” and offer the most value. The way that your home appears from the “curb” is the first thing that a prospective buyer sees. First impressions are lasting. We want them to slow down, marvel at the beauty, and feel welcome to your home. Perhaps their future home.

Getting your home to say ‘Welcome” does not need to be costly. Taking the time to manicure your lawn, says that you care about your investment. Trimming back the bushes from walkways and windows allows your home to shine!

Rake the old leaves and leftover dead foliage from the flower beds. Edge the beds so that they look clean and cared for. When planting flowers, it is best to keep to one or two colors. Mass plantings draw the eye and create interest.

The goal to creating a beautiful landscape is to convey a homey feeling, and to let your perspective buyer know that you cared for and enjoyed your home. We want the buyer to see themselves enjoying your home as well.

The sale of your home starts at the street. Taking the time to clean up and spruce up will not only add value, but will excite the buyer to “come on in” and see the other wonderful things that you have done to your home!
